If you are trying to request a repair, check your warranty, or order replacement parts, one of the first things you will be asked for is your ACK number.
For many customers, this is where confusion starts. The term is not always familiar, and the label itself is not immediately visible.
To help clarify, we spoke with Zina Chaban, Sales Consultant at La-Z-Boy Hunt Club, who regularly assists customers with locating their product information.
As Zina explains, “The ACK number is something most people do not think about until they need it. Once they understand what it is and where to find it, everything becomes much easier.”
This guide explains what the ACK number is, why it is important, and exactly where to find it on your La-Z-Boy furniture.
In This Article…
The ACK number, or Acknowledgment Number, is a unique code assigned to your furniture at the time of manufacture.
It connects your piece to its exact specifications, including the model, materials, configuration, and production details. This is especially important for La-Z-Boy, where many pieces are customized.
Zina explains, “Even if two chairs look the same, they may not be built the same. The ACK number tells us exactly what went into that specific piece.”
Because of this, the ACK number serves as a reference point for accurately identifying your furniture. It ensures that any service, repair, or replacement matches what you originally purchased.
The ACK number is important because it plays a key role whenever you need support for your furniture. Your ACK Number is essential for unlocking your manufacturer’s warranty benefits.
Service teams use it to:
Without this number, the process becomes slower and less precise. In some cases, it can lead to delays or incorrect parts being ordered.
Zina says, “When a customer has their ACK number ready, everything moves faster. It removes the guesswork and helps us get straight to the solution.”
Having this number available makes a noticeable difference in how quickly issues can be resolved.
You can find the ACK number on the Product Identification Tag attached to every piece of La-Z-Boy furniture.
This tag is typically located underneath the frame, out of sight during normal use. It is designed to remain hidden so it does not affect the furniture's appearance.
The label itself is usually:
Zina explains, “It is always there, but it is intentionally placed somewhere discreet. Once you know where to look, it becomes much easier to find.”
Because of its placement, you may need to bend down or gently adjust the furniture to see it clearly.
While every piece includes a Product Identification Tag, the exact placement can vary slightly depending on the type of furniture.
Check underneath the chair near the front-right rail or beneath the footrest. In some cases, extending the footrest will make the tag easier to see.
Zina notes, “Recliners can hide the tag a bit more because of the moving parts, so adjusting the position usually helps.”
Look along the front underside rail, often near the reclining mechanisms. These areas are slightly more concealed due to the internal components.
The tag is typically attached to the bottom-right side rail beneath the frame. These are usually easier to locate since there are fewer moving parts.
Check underneath the frame along the right-hand side rail, similar to stationary seating.
Zina explains, “Once you find one, you will know exactly where to look on future pieces. The placement is very consistent across models.”
While the ACK number is the most important detail, the Product Identification Tag includes several other useful pieces of information.
You may also find:
These details work together to provide a complete profile of your furniture.
Zina says, “If we ever need to repair or replace something, that tag gives us everything we need. It is like a full record of the piece.”
Keeping this information intact is essential for long-term support.
One of the easiest ways to avoid future frustration is to take a photo of your Product Identification Tag as soon as your furniture is delivered. It is a small step that can save you a lot of time later on.
This allows you to:
It also helps if multiple people in your household may need access to the information, since the photo can be saved or shared easily.
Zina often recommends this simple step. “It takes a few seconds, but it saves a lot of effort down the road. You do not want to be lifting furniture when something goes wrong.”
Having a digital record ensures you always have the information you need, especially in situations requiring quick service.
If you are unable to locate the tag, there are still a few options to try before reaching out for help. In many cases, the information may already exist in your original paperwork.
Start by checking your:
These documents sometimes include product details that can help identify your furniture.
If the number is still missing, your local La-Z-Boy store may be able to help you retrieve it using your purchase history. This process may take a bit more time, depending on how the information was recorded at the time of purchase.
Zina explains, “We can sometimes track it down through our system, but it is always faster when customers already have that information available.”
Reaching out to your store is often the quickest way to move forward if the tag cannot be found, especially if you need service sooner rather than later.
