Every year, Minto builds a Dream Home for the CHEO Foundation. It becomes the grand prize in the Dream of a Lifetime Lottery. The money goes to the Children's Hospital of Eastern Ontario on Smyth Road.
Every year, CHEO receives more than 750,000 patients from Eastern Ontario, Western Quebec, Nunavut and Northern Ontario.
This year the home is the Beaumont, in Brookline Community by Minto in Kanata. Tanner Vine Interiors brought the spaces to life with their design. La-Z-Boy Ottawa, Gatineau and Kingston furnished the home, as we have every year since the project began.
Only one person wins the house. Everything inside it is available to everyone else.
This article takes you through the Beaumont room by room, highlighting the furniture and design details featured throughout the home.
The Beaumont spans 5,340 square feet across three levels. Located at 389 Vibert Douglas Drive in Brookline, it sits on a corner lot, backed by green space.
From the street it reads as a classic Ottawa red brick home. The contemporary work is all inside.
Minto calls it their most accessible Dream Home to date. An in-home elevator serves all three levels. Hallways are wider, and the rear deck sits flush with the floor inside.
Standard features include a primary retreat, a solarium, a wellness centre and a wine tasting cellar downstairs.

Tanner Vine Interiors designed the Beaumont in partnership with Minto's Product Development Team.
The inspiration for this year’s home was a classic Parisian apartment interpreted through a modern lens. Traditional architectural details are paired with contemporary furniture, modern cabinetry and lighting to create a look that feels both elegant and current.
That contrast is evident from the moment you arrive. The exterior has the character of a classic red brick home, while inside, details such as the staircase’s curved corners and seemingly floating railing introduce a more modern feel.
This is Tanner's third Dream Home, following the 2024 Oasis and the 2025 Sterling. He has been designing for ten years.
La-Z-Boy Ottawa, Gatineau and Kingston has furnished every Minto Dream Home since the project started. The business has been Canadian-owned and operated since 1998, and employs over 100 local staff.
Planning begins earlier than most people expect, with work on the next Dream Home starting as the current one opens to the public.
Every piece in this house you would settle into for an evening is supplied by La-Z-Boy. That covers the two Noah sofas, the Paxton sectional, the Maeve swivel gliding chair, the Wynne recliner, the Opal swivel chair and the Aura pedestal chair.

As you walk through the front door, the mirror is the standout piece. Tanner paired it with a custom built-in console, which is part of the home and therefore not included in the furniture list below.
A metallic mirror that sets the tone before you have taken three steps into the house. It was sourced through our Kanata showroom.

A herringbone floor runs underfoot, a nod to classic Parisian apartments. The fixture above the table hangs deliberately low. That pulls the table into its own space inside an open-plan room.
Tanner chose a dark espresso stain from about a dozen options. The darker finish makes the shape of the table read clearly. The deeper finish helps highlight the table’s distinctive shape and details.

A cove detail in the ceiling helps define the living, dining and kitchen areas while keeping the open-concept layout intact. Behind the seating area, a composite fireplace is topped with a picture-frame television.
Tanner positioned the two sofas facing each other rather than facing the television, creating a layout that encourages conversation.
Two Noah sofas in a soft ivory fabric, face each other across the coffee table. Their gently sloped arms,loose back cushions and short tapered legs give them a relaxed, tailored look.
Classic enough to sit comfortably beneath the limestone mantel without competing with it.

With natural light coming in from two sides and a door leading to the covered porch, the office feels bright and open. Tanner took an unexpected approach to the workspace, using a dining table in place of a traditional desk.
It started as a dining table. Tanner had it custom-sized to work as a desk, finished in black stain with more classic legs.

Designed as a comfortable room for visitors, with a walk-in closet and its own ensuite. Drapes run the width of the window wall to keep it restful.
Tanner kept the bedside pieces open and airy, using pendant lights instead of table lamps to help the guest room feel more spacious and uncluttered.
Crafted from light mango wood in an open C-shaped design, the piece features a single drawer above and a shelf below. Its airy profile keeps the bedside area from feeling too heavy.

Tall and narrow, the mirror is framed in antique brass and mounted on pivots so it can tilt. At 76 inches high and just 16 wide, it adds height without taking up much visual space.

The entire suite is open concept, with no walls or doors separating the sleeping area, closet and bathroom.
As you step through the French doors, the ceiling height rises, making the space feel even brighter and more expansive. An L-shaped fireplace uses water vapour rather than flame, creating the look and movement of fire without the added heat
These are end tables are used as nightstands, offering a smart alternative to more traditional bedside pieces and an idea worth considering for your own space. Tanner chose the 25 pecan colour, washed in a matte finish.

Upholstered in charcoal, the Maeve sits by the window beneath a reading lamp. Its curved back flows into low arms, creating a supportive shape without feeling enclosed. The swivel and gliding motion make it especially well-suited to a quiet corner with a view.

Hand-loomed in cream, the rug features a subtle basketweave texture with no added pattern. Made from 70% wool, 30% nylon, it is just under half an inch thick.

At the bottom of the stairs, a small vignette creates a more welcoming arrival than a corridor. A pedestal table, thoughtful styling and original art carry the home’s darker contrasting elements into the lower level.
A solid round top rests on a turned pedestal with scrolled feet, measuring 42 inches across. Positioned at the foot of the stairs, it is the first piece you notice as you enter the basement.

Tanner did not want a storage room. Temperature-controlled, glass-fronted cabinets display the collection, with additional storage tucked behind them.
The lounge area is the focal point of the room, creating a comfortable place to sit and enjoy a glass rather than simply retrieve a bottle.
A channelled back with a row of small buttons gives the chair a tailored look, while tapered walnut legs with brass tips add refinement. Upholstered in a soft neutral, it brings warmth to the room.

The central room downstairs is arranged around a double-sided water vapour fireplace, allowing the same flickering effect to be enjoyed from the wellness centre on the other side.
A crisp white sectional with a left-hand chaise and deep seating offers plenty of room to stretch out comfortably. Track arms and a low-profile back keep it from obscuring the mural behind it.

Five skylights, a brick feature wall and plenty of greenery give the solarium a bright, inviting feel. In the afternoon, it becomes one of the brightest rooms in the house.
Glass doors separate it from the adjoining sitting area, letting you close it off without sacrificing natural light.
A deep barrel back and sloping track arms sit on a 360-degree swivel over an extra-large base. Its generous proportions make it ideal for taller users, with plenty of room to sit back comfortably.
