“There has been an upward trend in people sleeping in their sofa beds during the summer when the weather is nice. Some people have even chosen to place their sofa beds in their home offices or sunrooms,” she says.
However, not all sofa beds are created equal—comfort levels depend on mattress type, size, and construction quality. La-Z-Boy provides three mattress options, each with unique features, firmness levels, and costs.

All La-Z-Boy sofa beds are customizable, allowing you to select a mattress that best suits your comfort needs. While La-Z-Boy does not manufacture its own mattresses, they source high-quality options from trusted manufacturers to ensure durability and comfort.
The Supreme Comfort Mattress is the default mattress included with every La-Z-Boy sofa bed unless an upgrade is selected.
This mattress features a 5.5-inch quilted innerspring system, designed to provide medium-firm support. Beneath the soft top layer, a durable innerspring system conforms to your body shape, distributing weight evenly and reducing pressure points.
If you're looking for an affordable yet comfortable sleeping option for occasional guests, the Supreme Comfort Mattress is a great entry-level choice.
The Slumber Air Mattress is an upgraded option, offering customizable firmness levels for a more tailored sleep experience.
This mattress consists of a 4-inch innerspring base, providing a stable foundation, with an inflatable air cushion that can be adjusted to different thicknesses, reaching up to 6 inches when fully inflated.
One of the key advantages of the Slumber Air Mattress is that it allows each sleeper to control the level of firmness. A hand-held air pump makes inflating or deflating the mattress simple, so guests can find their preferred comfort level.
“The access for the pump can be easily located on the top right of the mattress, and it also has a cover, so you don’t feel it when you sleep,” explains Magaly.

The Firm Mattress is the newest addition to La-Z-Boy’s sofa bed mattress selection and is ideal for those who prefer extra support and pressure relief.
Constructed with a high-resiliency memory foam base, this mattress is designed to reduce pressure points, allowing for a more restful sleep experience. Unlike traditional innerspring options, memory foam evenly distributes weight, eliminating motion transfer and helping the mattress retain its shape for longer durability.
Magaly describes this mattress as “like laying down on a cloud.”
For those who prioritize firm support and durability, the Firm Mattress is an excellent upgrade.
The size and shape of your sofa bed mattress depend on the sofa bed that you select. At La-Z-Boy, we have 3 different sofa bed sizes, which will indicate the mattress size.
The best way to determine which size is right for you is by measuring your space.
A Twin Sleeper Chair is the smallest sleeper option with the smallest pull-out mattress. As the name suggests, a Twin Sleeper Chair is a chair that can pull out into a twin-sized bed that can sleep one person.
Magaly also says you may be able to squeeze one adult and a small child if you wanted to, but it is more recommended for one person.
The specific size of the twin sleeper chair depends on the specific furniture frame. Still, Magaly says the average width of a twin sleeper chair is 39 inches. The twin sized mattress has the following dimensions:

It is important to note that sleeper sofa modular pieces are not offered with every sectional at La-Z-Boy, only a select few. Further, the mattress size will depend on the sectional modular pieces.
In terms of cost, Magaly states that a La-Z-Boy sleeper sofa is considered an upgrade and will “always be more expensive than a regular sofa.”
With that being said, two main factors will indicate the cost of a sleeper sofa at La-Z-Boy: the size of the frame and the type of mattress.
Generally speaking, the larger the frame, the more expensive your sofa bed will be.
