The Rechargeable Lithium-Ion Battery Pack offers cordless power to operate power reclining furniture at La-Z-Boy.

At La-Z-Boy, all our furniture is customizable, to provide you with many options to create furnishing unique to your preferences, style, and comfort needs. The battery pack is considered an upgrade option offered on all power furniture, excluding lift chairs. It takes one battery pack to power a recliner and two battery packs to power a loveseat, sofa, or sectional.

At La-Z-Boy, a Rechargeable Lithium-Ion Battery Pack costs $300.

With the use of a rechargeable battery pack, your power furniture can be free from the hassles and constraints of a corded power supply.

Such cordless power allows for carefree operation and the flexibility to place power reclining furniture anywhere on the floor of your indoor room, without the need to be plugged into a wall outlet.

LED Charge Status Indicator	The battery pack includes an LED charging status indicator light that flashes red while charging and changes to a steady green when fully charged. A quick glance and you will know the charging status of the battery pack. Charging the battery pack takes approximately 5 – 7 hours.
Low Battery Signal	An audible low-battery signal (beep) is transmitted when the battery pack is near the end of its charge, alerting you that the battery needs to be recharged. A few full reclining cycles are remaining when the first low-battery signal is emitted.
Built-In Mechanism Protection	The battery pack has a power output limitation that will cut power to the reclining furniture if an obstruction is encountered that prevents the reclining mechanism from moving, thereby enhancing the safety and preventing damage to the reclining mechanism.
Underwriters Laboratories (UL) Recognized Component	Our battery pack is UL recognized – both components inside and the battery pack itself have been evaluated by UL and meet applicable UL requirements. Functionality & Performance of the Battery Pack

Set-Up & Usage

The battery pack is sold separately from your power furniture as an upgrade option. This pack comes with an input cable, output cable, and a charging unit.

The set-up is quite simple. All you need to do is connect the charged battery pack to your furniture. On the back base of your furniture, you will find a power box. Typically, this power box is attached to a cord that is to be plugged into a wall outlet. Instead, you will use the cables to attach your charged battery pack.

Once properly plugged in, the battery pack will power your furniture.

For safety purposes, it is important that the battery pack is placed behind the furniture. Do not place the battery pack inside or underneath the furniture. Further, be sure to keep the rechargeable battery pack and cables away from the reclining mechanism within the furniture.

The battery pack will drain with regular use and it will eventually transmit a low-battery signal when it is nearing the end of its charge.

At this point, it is time to recharge your battery pack. To do so, simply disconnect the battery pack from the power box on the back of your furniture and plug it into the charger. The charger must be plugged into a wall outlet to successfully recharge the battery.

After about 5 to 7 hours, the battery pack will emit a green light to indicate that it is fully charged. You can now unplug the battery from the charging unit and plug it back into your furniture as you did before.

Battery Pack Life & Operating Cycles

Battery pack life and the number of operating cycles provided by a fully charged battery are dependent on several variables, such as …

The number and extent reclining position
Storage and duration of storage (storage refers to the time when the battery is not in use)
The user’s physical body size
The amount of power a specific piece of furniture requires
Feature usage when operating on the battery
Ambient temperature
Use of a USB port

At the very least, the battery pack provides about five days of cordless operation when fully charged with ten reclining cycles per day. It is, however, possible to extend the battery life of your pack beyond five days.

It is important to note that it is normal for the battery pack to drain slowly over time, even when it is not in use (storage). After four months of storage, the battery will have approximately 20% of its power remaining before it must be recharged.

Just like how a cellphone or laptop will slowly lose its battery life over time, a rechargeable battery pack is no different.

Eventually, the battery will have to be replaced.
