Finding a recliner that truly fits a taller frame can feel frustrating. Many chairs feel comfortable at first, but once you lean back, your head may sit above the cushion, or your legs may extend too far past the footrest. The Kodie Recliner was designed to solve that problem.
To better understand who this chair works best for, we spoke with Vic Bozhko, Sales Consultant at La-Z-Boy Cyrville. Vic may stand at a regular height, but recommends the Kodie to taller customers. “My coworker, Cliff, is 6’2, and he can sit in this chair comfortably,” he says. “That alone tells you a lot about how it’s built.”
But beyond height alone, is the Kodie the right recliner for your home?
In This Article...
Its track arms and clean lines give it a contemporary look, but unlike slimmer modern recliners, the Kodie maintains a plush, supportive seat. The seat feels structured rather than overly soft, helping taller users feel properly aligned rather than sinking too low.
Vic often compares Kodie to the Astor when speaking with customers. “The only other recliner that suits someone my height this well is the Astor,” he explains. “And that’s saying something because that’s one of the tallest recliners in our showroom.”
In terms of fit, the Kodie is generally best suited for taller users. Those of average height may still find it comfortable, but they may notice that the taller back and deeper seat feel more spacious. Shorter individuals may find that their feet do not fully rest flat on the floor or that the headrest sits higher than expected.
While your height can be a considerable factor, it is important to note that height guidelines are NOT set in stone. The way you sit on a piece of furniture can drastically affect how comfortable someone might find it.
This is why we highly recommend coming in-store and taking a sit test to determine if the Kodie is right for your unique body type. To learn more, take a look at our article How to Find a Recliner That is The Best Fit For You.
The Kodie is available as a rocking recliner, a wall recliner and a glider recliner.

The Kodie makes the most sense for someone who has struggled to find a recliner that properly supports their height. Its taller back and deeper seat create a more aligned sitting posture for taller individuals, which can make a noticeable difference in long-term comfort.
Vic explains that many taller customers feel immediate relief when sitting in the Kodie. “You can tell right away when your head actually hits the cushion properly,” he says. That alignment is often what taller shoppers are missing in other frames.
However, if you are shorter or furnishing a very compact space, Kodie’s taller structure may feel larger than necessary. Trying it in person will give you the clearest understanding of whether its proportions match your body type and room layout.
