Summit Series Recliner Selection

Oversize recliner Randell So, you might be wondering, how many of La-Z-Boy’s recliners are currently in the Summit Series Collection? And, most importantly, how do these recliners differ from other standard ones available?

Well, as of the publication of this article, two oversized recliners are currently available in the Summit Series. These specific recliners are the Randell Recliner and the Redwood Recliner. These two furniture items are built with tall enhancements that other recliners do not have.

Tall enhancements include a wider scaled frame, additional back and seat springs within the construction of the piece, a heavy-duty mechanism for reclining, bolstered rocker blocks and rocker springs for rocking recliners, an elongated handle on the recliner (2 inches longer), and a standard tall base.

Oversized recliner RedwoodThese recliners are specifically constructed to handle higher levels of stress compared to regular models, but they undergo the same rigorous testing procedures.

While the Summit Series recliners are known for their tall enhancements integrated into their structure, it is important to note that they are not the only recliners offering such features. In addition to the Summit Series, the Astor Recliner also incorporates tall enhancements to cater to individuals with taller stature.

However, this recliner is not considered part of the Summit Series because it does not include all tall enhancements. The Astor Recliner has a tall base but appears slimmer than Summit Recliners. Although it may not be considered part of the Summit Series, the Astor is still an honourable mention if people are interested in it.

Sizes & Dimensions

As evident from their design, these recliners may not fit as seamlessly as regular-sized recliners. Therefore, it becomes crucial to measure your available space before finalizing your purchase of a new furniture piece.

To start, the Summit Series recliners are specifically designed on a larger scale, as mentioned earlier. As a result, regular-sized recliners might be more suitable for individuals residing in smaller living spaces. On the other hand, if you are interested in an oversized recliner, it would be more fitting for a more spacious and open area.

Furthermore, in terms of height, these La-Z-Boy recliners are ideal for taller individuals, providing a comfortable seating experience for those who are 6'3" and above.

However, while your height can be a considerable factor, it is important to note that height guidelines are NOT set in stone. The way you sit in a furniture item can drastically affect how someone might find a seat comfortable.

For instance, it is worth noting that some design consultants have sold Summit Series recliners to individuals who are significantly shorter than 6 feet, utilizing these furniture pieces more like a "chair and a half."

Mitch Beaulieu, a design consultant at La-Z-Boy Kanata, shared an interesting experience: "I once sold a Redwood recliner to an older lady who was maybe 4 feet tall. She simply wanted something large and cozy, allowing her to cuddle up with her dog."

This highlights that the appeal of the Summit Series extends beyond accommodating taller individuals, with some customers valuing the spaciousness and comfort of these recliners for various unique reasons.

Cost

When considering the cost of a furniture piece, it is crucial to consider the quality of materials used in its construction. At La-Z-Boy, great emphasis is placed on building recliners and other furniture pieces with the intention of ensuring their durability and longevity.

Regarding the Summit Series, these oversized recliners are more expensive than regular-sized recliners at La-Z-Boy, meaning they are on the higher end of the price range.

To see what kind of price we’re looking at, The starting price for the Redwood Rocking Recliner is $1,799, while the Randell Rocking Recliner starts at $1,679.

New call-to-action

With that being said, purchasing any kind of furniture from La-Z-Boy will be an investment, and will cost more initially than other recliners on the market. However, while you’re spending more, you are most likely saving more money down the line if you choose to keep your furniture for a long time.

Warranty

The Summit Series is covered by La-Z-Boy’s Limited Lifetime Warranty. This warranty covers the base of any metal or wood swivel for a lifetime.

The warranty also covers the repair or replacement of the frame, spring systems, and mechanism, given that they are quality-crafted and built for long-lasting comfort.

While still quality-crafted, other aspects of the product, such as fabrics, leather, and cushion are not meant to last a lifetime. However, these parts are still covered by the La-Z-Boy Manufacturer’s Warranty for a given time.

Is the Summit Series Right For You?

Now that you know everything regarding the Summit Series, the question still remains if this reclining family is right for you. Before making a decision, let’s take a look at how you might use these oversized recliners in your home.

Starting with a budget, you might feel as though these recliners are expensive, which is a normal feeling. Yes, these recliners are more expensive than others available, however, for those that struggle with finding the right recliner to accommodate their needs, it might be worth spending extra to keep yourself comfortable for years to come.

What’s more, not only is it perfect for taller or heavier individuals, but the Summit Series can also be good for those needing a little extra comfort after extensive surgery, or for spending more time with your child or furry friend.

Also regarding size, these recliners, as mentioned before, might not be the best fit for any smaller living space. Instead, adding it to an open-concept area might fill up your large living room even more, and can help make this recliner feel less large in size.

Lastly, the style of these recliners is another story. While the Randell takes on a more traditional style with its multi-channeled cushions, the Redwood seems to take on a more simplified approach, bringing on a modern edge to it.

If you do love the style of the Redwood but live in a smaller space, you might prefer its younger sister, the Rosewood, which has the same style as the Redwood, but without the tall enhancements.

As for the Randell, there doesn’t seem to be a smaller recliner with a similar style and design. However, if you’re looking for a recliner with a lot of channeled cushioning, you might enjoy the Greyson instead.
