Racha Pharaon, a design consultant at La-Z-Boy Kanata, says that the Petra is an extra long sofa, and the rest of its furniture family, is “perfect for anyone looking for deep-seated and a wide furniture arrangement.”

Before we discuss the in-depth details of the Petra, let’s list out the different frame options available in this long furniture family

Petra Stationary Chair & a Half

Firstly, the Petra is available as a La-Z-Boy chair & a half, which is longer in width than a regular stationary chair. The Petra Chair & a Half is great for sitting spaciously alone, with a furry friend, or with a small child.

Petra Extra Long Sofa

Next is the Petra Sofa, which is one of the longer sofas offered at La-Z-Boy. This is why it is called the Extra Long Sofa. This roomy 3-seater sofa allows friends and family to relax in style, while still having plenty of room to cross your legs.

The Petra Sofa also comes in an apartment-sized option, meaning any apartment dwellers who love the style of the Petra can also get one for their smaller space. Instead of the apartment sofa coming with three cushions, it comes in two long cushions for a cleaner look.

Petra Ottoman

The Petra furniture family allows you to match your Petra Sofa or Chair & a Half with an ottoman that has the same style, making it easy to create a cohesive look in your living space.

The Petra Ottoman can act as a leg rest to kick your feet up, or as an extra seat for any guests who come over.

Unique Features

Now that we know what’s included in the Petra furniture family, let’s take a look at some of the unique features the Petra has to offer.

Within each furniture frame, this modern sofa offers a streamlined look that features sleek arms, sophisticated tapered wood legs, kidney-shaped pillows, and deep seats, all for a contemporary and laid-back style.

Looking at the Petra Extra Long Sofa, Racha points out the legs being a deciding factor for some. “The legs are very distinct in style,” she says. The Petra has a fifth leg in the centre of the frame for additional support – something not all La-Z-Boy sofas have. This is most likely because of its size.

She also mentions the cushions feeling very deep, which gives the user more comfort, if they’re not looking for something firm. Interestingly, these cushions have the same depth as the Paxton Furniture Family, which is one of La-Z-Boy’s best sellers.

Further, what’s interesting about this La-Z-Boy sofa, is that it comes with loose cushions, meaning all the back and seat cushions on the furniture frame are not attached by upholstery. This allows the user to easily switch pillows to a different spot if they feel like they’re wearing out over time.

Sizes & Dimensions

The size and dimensions of a furniture item can matter greatly, depending on your living space. Before purchasing new furniture, it is always vital to Measure Your Room to compare measurements.

As the name suggests for this La-Z-Boy sofa, the Petra is “Extra Long,” meaning this furniture item is a lot wider than most sofas offered at La-Z-Boy. Because of this, the longer sofa might not be beneficial in a smaller space. 

If you’re looking to place your sofa behind a window, however, Racha says that the Petra has a shorter back, which means you can expose more sunlight to your room, if that is important to you.

Also, depending on how you like to sit on the Petra, your unique body type might matter. Racha says that if you like to sit with your feet curled next to you, you might benefit from the deep seats. That being said, this furniture family might be better for those with an average to taller height.

But, if you like to sit up on your furniture, those with a shorter height might risk their feet dangling, which may not be favourable to some. Racha says this problem can easily be fixed by adding extra pillows on your back for more support.

When looking at Petra’s options and upgrades, there are plenty to choose from. It is important to remember that all options and upgrades come at an additional cost, meaning the price of your Petra furniture is subject to increase. 

Fabric Options

La-Z-Boy has over 800 fabrics to choose from, making the experience of personalizing your furniture seemingly endless.

Racha reveals that the Petra comes in 4 different select fabric options. These sofa cover options are chosen specifically to compliment the frame of your furniture and do not increase the base price of your Petra.

The 4 select fabric choices for Petra are oyster, dove, steel and pebble. Should you choose to purchase a sofa cover that is not included as select covers, you will be subjected to an additional fee. 

As for leather, there are no select leather covers to choose from within the Petra furniture family. Pillow Options

Both Petra Sofas come with pillows, which means you can customize those as well. You can accessorize your pillows by adding an accent colour to them, as well as contrasting welt, cording or fringe.

The Petra furniture family is covered by La-Z-Boy’s Limited Lifetime Warranty. This warranty covers the repair or replacement of the frame, spring systems, and mechanism, given that they are quality-crafted and built for long-lasting comfort.

While still quality-crafted, other aspects of the product, such as fabrics, leather, and cushion, are not meant to last a lifetime. However, these parts are still covered by the La-Z-Boy Manufacturer’s Warranty for a given period of time.
