At La-Z-Boy, we have many different types of furniture pieces available in our stores in Ottawa and Kingston. Two of our bigger categories involve stationary and reclining furniture. However, sometimes customers have a hard time deciding which one is right for them.

But what if you didn’t have to decide between stationary and reclining furniture? What if you could choose both, but only have to pay for one product? Well, with our Duo Collection, you certainly can do that!

This collection of furniture items features all the relaxation of a recliner, all wrapped into a stationary looking piece. 

Before our new introductions, the Duo Collection included the Colby, the Edie and the Bennett. Now, we have a fourth arrival to this collection with the Roscoe!

Elaina Sollychin, a design consultant at La-Z-Boy Hunt Club in Ottawa, says the Roscoe has risen in popularity since its entrance into our showrooms. “People love it, especially in its Artisan denim select fabric colour,” she says.

Roscoe Furniture Family (Available Frame Options)

Before we dive into deeper details about the Roscoe, let’s take a look at what furniture frames are available in this family.

Roscoe Duo® Reclining Chair

The Roscoe Duo® Reclining Chair is the first frame that delivers individualized comfort. Simply use the side-mounted control panel on the side to recline and move the seat cushion with ease.

Roscoe Duo® Reclining Loveseat

Expanding to a two-seater option, the Roscoe Duo® Reclining Loveseat allows you to share an extra seat with either a friend, family member or significant other.

Roscoe Duo® Reclining Sofa

Lastly, If you’re looking for a more family-friendly seating arrangement, the Roscoe Duo® Reclining Sofa sets the tone for guests or a family movie night. 

Unique Features

Taking a look at its unique features, the Roscoe Duo furniture frames offer a mid-century modern approach to a laid-back seat. With flared arms and wood legs, you can add this chic style to any room. 

The Roscoe also has semi-attached back cushions with a comfy box border seat. The arms are also elegant and flared with them extending outward for a welcoming feel. 

“The winged arms are similar to the Rowan Recliner,” says Elaina, “the only difference is that the Rowan’s arms are curved, whereas the Roscoe’s arms are still flat at the top, which makes it look more contemporary in style.”

What’s more, the Roscoe furniture family is also only available as power furniture. Given that these furniture pieces have the ability to secretly recline, having a handle or latch on the side of the chair would make it obvious that it is a recliner. 

While the Roscoe requires a power source for operation, you have the option to elevate its convenience by upgrading to a cordless rechargeable battery pack.

Sizes & Dimensions

Taking a look at the size and dimensions of the Roscoe, Elaina says that the measurements are quite small.

“Compared to its sister frame, the Colby, which is already a small piece, the Roscoe is smaller than that.” Because of this, The Roscoe could be a considerable candidate for small spaces.

As for who might sit in this furniture frame comfortably, any user with an average height could look nice sitting in this piece. Elaina says height ranges vary depending on how you sit.

While your height can be a considerable factor, it is important to note that height guidelines are NOT set in stone. The way you sit in a furniture item can drastically affect how someone might find a seat comfortable.

The Roscoe Duo® furniture family has many different options and customizations to choose from. Please note that by choosing some of these options & upgrades, the price of your furniture is subject to increase.

Fabric & Leather Options

La-Z-Boy has over 800 fabrics and leathers to choose from, making the experience of personalizing your furniture seemingly endless.

Elaina reveals that the Roscoe comes in 4 different select fabric options. Select fabrics are chosen to compliment Roscoe’s specific furniture frame. In turn, these fabric options do not increase the base price of your Roscoe. 

You will be subjected to an additional fee if you choose to purchase any fabric that is not included as a select cover.

At an additional cost, Roscoe’s cushions can also be upgraded to include firmer cushioning, meaning over time, your furniture will remember your unique figure and enhance the comfort of your furniture. This could be a great option for people with mobility issues, allowing you to get in and out of your furniture more comfortably.

Pillow Options

Roscoe comes with pillows, which means you can customize those as well. You can accessorize your pillows by adding an accent colour to them, as well as contrasting welt, cording or fringe. Luckily for you, the Roscoe furniture family also includes 3 additional select accent pillow options, meaning those will not affect your price.

If you want to get specific, you can also request feather padding for your pillows instead of the usual foam padding.

Finish Options

Finally, Roscoe’s wood leg finish can also be customized. Any Roscoe furniture item comes in one of three finish options:

• Mahogany (Base Price)
• Coffee (Additional Cost)
• Graphite (Additional Cost)

Cost

The Roscoe furniture products fall within the high price range at La-Z-Boy. This price range is because the Roscoe furniture is only offered in power, according to Elaina. 

While the cost of the Roscoe furniture is considered mostly standard at La-Z-Boy, it is also important to note that La-Z-Boy furniture is considered more expensive on the market. This cost is reflected in the high quality of materials and craftsmanship of our products.

Warranty

The Roscoe is covered by La-Z-Boy’s Limited Lifetime Warranty. This warranty covers the repair or replacement of the frame, spring systems, and mechanism, given that they are quality-crafted and built for long-lasting comfort.

While still quality-crafted, other aspects of the product, such as fabrics, leather, and cushions, are not meant to last a lifetime. However, these parts are still covered by the La-Z-Boy Manufacturer’s Warranty for a given period of time.

Is the Roscoe Furniture Family Right For You?

After learning what you know about the Roscoe Duo Furniture Family, you can now make a more informed decision about whether this power reclining product is right for you. However, you might still be on the fence if you think this furniture is good enough for your home. Here are some last minute factors to consider to help you figure out if the Roscoe is right for you.

Firstly, taking a look at the cost, you can tell that this furniture frame is higher than other products at La-Z-Boy. This is due to the fact that Duo furniture is made up of power furniture, which will always be more expensive than manual reclining and stationary furniture.
