After all these years, La-Z-Boy continues to make innovative furniture for many to enjoy. One product that proves this is the Soren Recliner.

Unique Features

When it comes to unique features, there is a lot to discuss with the Soren.

To begin, the Soren is a modern version of a billowy classic. A billowy classic refers to traditional-looking furniture that has a puffy look to it. Soren has a modernized take on this traditional look because of its bucket seats, which make users sink into the seats when sitting in them.

Soren’s bucket seats are spacious, yet cozy, giving the user ample support in its soft foam-back cushions.

The Soren also comes with a squared-off arm which Trevor believes “looks more attractive than the big-rolled arms on other furniture pieces.” Trevor also notes that the Soren has a lower arm making it “quite stylish in its look.”

Sizes & Dimensions

When looking at the Soren initially, some might say it looks big. This is because of its tall stature.

Trevor notes that the Soren comes with a tall back, meaning taller individuals between the heights of 5’10” - 6’2” will sit comfortably in this recliner. The reason why it is considered taller is because of the way the seat sits, according to Trevor.

“The seat is a little bit taller, but there is also a little more back to it,” he says. Individuals within the ideal height mentioned above will feel their shoulders relax naturally on Soren’s inward-angled arms.

Shorter individuals might have a harder time sitting comfortably in Soren’s furniture frame. Read more about La-Z-Boy Recliners for Short People by checking out this article.

While your height can be a considerable factor, it is important to note that height guidelines are NOT set in stone. The way you sit in a furniture item can drastically affect how someone might find a seat comfortable.

This is why we highly recommend coming in-store and taking a sit test to determine if the Soren is right for your unique body type. To learn more, take a look at How to Find a Recliner That is The Best Fit For You.

Options & Upgrades

When compared to other La-Z-Boy furniture families, Soren has plenty to choose from. Always remember that all options and upgrades will increase the price of your furniture.

Fabric & Leather Options

La-Z-Boy has over 800 fabrics and leathers to choose from, making the experience of personalizing your furniture seemingly endless.

Trevor reveals that most fabric and leather options offered at La-Z-Boy compliment the Soren nicely, making the Soren recliner versatile.

There are at least 4 select fabrics to choose from, which do not increase the starting price of your Soren, as well as 4 select faux leather options.

When it comes to leather options, there are 2 select cover options. These leather options include double top stitching, which gives it a cleaner look.

Should you choose to purchase any fabrics or leathers that are not included as select covers, you will be subjected to an additional fee. Leather options, beyond the select leather selection, will always increase the overall cost.

Ultimately, the choice of choosing fabric or leather is up to you, if you’re willing to spend extra cash on leather products.

Please note that this article's leather or fabric options may be discontinued or unavailable without prior notice. We recommend contacting your local Ottawa or Kingston La-Z-Boy store by phone or in-person to confirm availability. We apologize for any inconvenience caused by any changes to our upholstery selection.

In addition to the cover options mentioned above, the Soren is offered in specialty fabrics that offer unique features and benefits …

Stain Resistant

Innovative iClean Technology surrounds each cover, creating a barrier that repels spills before turning into stains.

Pet-Friendly Fabric

Tested and formulated to withstand the scratches and wear that a pet can cause to ensure a durable and easily washable fabric.

Antimicrobial Fabric

Antimicrobial properties surround each fibre to protect against mould, mildew, and odour-causing bacteria.

Performance

Superior stain and fade resistance properties make fabrics easy to clean and incredibly durable.

Eco-Friendly

Conserve Sustainable Fabrics are soft, durable and made from recycled water bottles.

Energy Restoration

Cushion Upgrade

At an additional cost, Soren’s cushions can also be upgraded to include firmer cushioning, meaning over time your furniture will remember your unique figure and enhance the comfort of your furniture. This could be a great option for people with mobility issues, allowing you to get in and out of your furniture more comfortably.

Optional Swivel Base

If you're interested, the Soren rocking recliner is available with a swivel base for an extra cost. La-Z-Boy's swivel bases provide a 360-degree rotation, allowing you to easily turn and face any direction.

You can also upgrade your swivel base into a power swivel recliner, which can recline at the touch of a button. The power swivel base, however, only rotates 165 degrees to prevent the power cord from getting tangled within the furniture frame.

Additionally, you can change the wood finish colour of the swivel base from the standard brown mahogany to a coffee colour.

Handle Options

To add more style to your La-Z-Boy manual recliner, you have the option to customize the length and material of the convenient reclining handle.

At an extra cost, you can opt to elongate the handle if you find it too short for your comfort. Additionally, you can choose from a variety of materials for the handle, including wooden, brushed nickel, or matte black. The chrome handle can also be elongated, matching the wooden one in size.

What’s more, for all left-handed users, you can change your handle from the standard right side to the left. This also comes at an additional cost.

Power Upgrade with Adjustable Headrest & Lumbar

You can upgrade the Soren to power.

Instead of using a handle or a latch, like with manual furniture, the power recliner has a wireless remote on the right side of the chair. With this, you can recline at the touch of a button, as well as control the adjustable headrest support.

The adjustable headrest allows you to move the head of the recliner from 0-55 degrees, giving you more range of motion with your reclining positions.

You can also control the lower lumbar area of your recliner with the wireless remote. In this case, the lumbar support can expand 3 inches out or deflate to perfectly match the unique curvature of your lumbar spine.

What’s more, the recliners have USB ports next to the control panels to charge your electronic devices, as well as two memory settings that allow you to save any of your favourite relaxing positions. This way, you can easily recline back to the position you favour quickly and accurately.

If you need help with learning about the controls, check out La-Z-Boy Power Furniture: How to Use the Control Panel & Remote

All power upgrades can be cordless, thanks to our rechargeable battery pack. With this, you can place your power recliners anywhere without worrying about plugging them into an electrical outlet.

Cost

In terms of cost, Trevor notes that the Soren Recliner is within the mid-price range at La-Z-Boy.

While the cost of the Soren furniture is considered quite standard at La-Z-Boy, it is important to note that La-Z-Boy furniture is considered more expensive in the market. This cost is reflected in the quality of materials and craftsmanship of our products. With this, the investment tends to be worthwhile if you are looking for long-lasting furniture.

Warranty

The Soren is covered by La-Z-Boy’s Limited Lifetime Warranty. This warranty covers the repair or replacement of the frame, spring systems, and mechanism, given that they are quality-crafted and built for long-lasting comfort.

For full details of the Limited Lifetime Warranty, check out this full La-Z-Boy warranty breakdown.

While still quality-crafted, other aspects of the product, such as fabrics, leather, and cushion, are not meant to last a lifetime. However, these parts are still covered by the La-Z-Boy Manufacturer’s Warranty for a given period of time.

To further protect your purchase, La-Z-Boy Ottawa & Kingston offers an extended warranty plan at an additional cost. To learn more about the Extended Warranty Plan and if it’s right for you, take a look at this article.

Customer Reviews

Customer reviews tell a lot about a furniture piece, especially when they are honest. Here are the current star ratings for the Soren recliner out of 5.

With this, the star rating is not currently available.  However, here are what reviews are saying about some Soren furniture products so far.

Is the Soren Recliner Right for You?

Now that you know everything you need to know about the Soren Recliner, the question may still remain if it is the right recliner for you. To better help make your decision, this section will focus on budgeting, functionality, and style preferences.

To begin, the aforementioned price range is mid-price. This, however, is compared to other La-Z-Boy products, which are typically more expensive than other furniture products on the market.

La-Z-Boy products are an investment, meaning should you want to purchase any of our products, they will be very long-lasting. If you are willing to spend more than expected so that you can have long-lasting furniture, the Soren, as well as other La-Z-Boy products, may be right for you.

Alternatively, if you are seeking temporary furniture at a low cost, the Soren furniture might not be the right investment.

In terms of functionality, the reclining feature of the Soren furniture is ideal for those looking to kick back and relax. If you are looking for stationary furniture, the Soren furniture will not be right for you.

Finally, when it comes to style, Trevor notes that Soren’s seats look more contoured, meaning there is more dimension to this recliner’s design.

Those who are looking for something comfortable yet unique will appreciate this look. In contrast, those wanting a piece of furniture with a “quieter style” may want something “less attention-seeking”

Trevor also says that the contour look is more prominent on the bucket seats, which look similar to the Rowan. If you want to learn more about the Rowan Recliner, take a look at this article.
