At La-Z-Boy, we are known for making good quality recliners that last for generations. But with so many styles to choose from, it can be hard to make a decision on one recliner. 

Some recliners have modern designs to them, like the Turner, which so happens to be the subject of this article.

The Turner Recliner, along with its loveseat and sofa counterparts, shows itself off with a big and bulky presence. “You could say it ‘turns’ heads,” jokingly says Racha Pharaon, one of our design consultants at La-Z-Boy Kanata.

Though the Turner might be an attention grabber, how does it command presence?

Turner Furniture Family (Available Frame Options)

Before we get into the nitty-gritty of the Turner, let’s familiarize ourselves with each furniture frame that’s included. The Turner has three available furniture frames: a recliner, a loveseat, and a sofa.

Turner Recliner

Offering individualized comfort, the Turner Recliner is available as a rocker recliner, a wall recliner, and a glider recliner. Simply use the convenient handle on the outside arm to recline. 

The Turner Rocking and Glider Recliner rock or glide in a smooth and graceful motion while in an upright position. Alternatively, the Wall Recliner can be placed mere inches away from a wall while still being able to recline fully.

Turner Loveseat

Offering two seats instead of one, the Turner Loveseat can be enjoyed individually or with that special someone. Simply use the latch on either side to recline.

Turner Sofa

Lastly, the Turner Sofa offers three cushions for family-friendly comfort. Like the loveseat, there are latches on either side to enjoy reclining comfort. The sofa is also a wall recliner, which can be placed mere inches away from a wall.

Unique Features

The Turner furniture family, like any other furniture family from La-Z-Boy, offers some unique features that help it stand out from the rest.

The Turner offers a sensible look that’s fresh, timeless, and personality-driven. 

This conveniently scaled recliner features a modern-style back and single-needle top stitching on the back, legrest, and arms.

Regarding the arms, Racha says it stays true to its namesake with its turned-up thin padded arms.  “The padded arms are turned around the chair, giving it a more clean and compact look,” she says.

She also says that it has good cushioning for the head, especially in leather, with its detailed topstitching design.

Sizes & Dimensions

When examining your space for any new furniture item, it is always important to Measure Your Room.

Racha says the Turner is also a very bulky furniture family, meaning average-sized rooms may lose a bit of room when this furniture is placed. Alternatively, the Turner might be more suitable for open-concept spaces.

Additionally, Racha says that the Turner is more of a medium scaled furniture item that is suited for taller individuals. The recommended height for this furniture family is between 5’10” - 6’2”.

Options & Upgrades

When compared to other La-Z-Boy furniture families, Turner has plenty of customization options to choose from. Keep in mind that with your selection of options and upgrades, the cost of the Turner furniture is subject to increase.  

Fabric & Leather Options

La-Z-Boy has over 800 fabrics and leathers to choose from, making the experience of personalizing your furniture seemingly endless.

When it comes to choosing select fabrics, the Turner comes in 4 select fabric covers. Customers can choose between oatmeal, birch, flannel, or twig colours. These fabric covers do not increase the price of your Turner furniture.

When it comes to leather options, there are 2 select cover options. These leather options include charcoal and a pebble colour.

Along with the leather selection, the aforementioned leather stitching is also available. All leather options, including the select leather selection, will always increase the overall cost.

Ultimately, the choice of choosing fabric or leather is up to you if you’re willing to spend extra cash on leather products.

Handle Options

To add more style to your La-Z-Boy manual recliner, you have the option to customize the length and material of the convenient reclining handle.

At an extra cost, you can opt to elongate the handle if you find it too short for your comfort. Additionally, you can choose from a variety of materials for the handle, including wooden, brushed nickel, or matte black. The chrome handle can also be elongated, matching the wooden one in size.

What’s more, for all left-handed users, you can change your handle from the standard right side to the left at no additional charge.

Optional Swivel Base

If you're interested, the Turner rocking recliner is available with a swivel base for an extra cost. La-Z-Boy's swivel bases provide a 360-degree rotation, allowing you to easily turn and face any direction.

You can also upgrade your swivel base into a power swivel recliner, which can swivel at the touch of a button. The power swivel base, however, only rotates 165 degrees to prevent the power cord from getting tangled within the furniture frame.

Additionally, you can upgrade your Turner Recliner swivel base option in either a standard brown mahogany or coffee finish.

Power Upgrade with Adjustable Headrest

You can upgrade the Turner furniture family to power. 

Unlike manual furniture that uses a handle or latch, power recliners come with a control panel or a wireless remote for easy reclining at the touch of a button. You can also adjust the headrest support with this convenient feature.

The adjustable headrest allows you to move the head of the recliner from 0-55 degrees, giving you more range of motion with your reclining positions.

What’s more, the recliners have USB ports next to the control panels to charge your electronic devices and two memory settings that allow you to save any of your favourite relaxing positions. This way, you can easily recline back to the position you favour quickly and accurately. 

All power upgrades can be cordless, thanks to our rechargeable battery pack. With this, you can place your power recliners anywhere without worrying about plugging them into an electrical outlet.

Adjustable Lumbar Support

The Turner furniture family can also be upgraded to include adjustable lumbar support for an additional cost when choosing the power option.

Like the headrest feature, you can control the lower lumbar area of your recliner with the wireless remote. In this case, the lumbar support can expand 3 inches out or deflate to perfectly match the unique curvature of your lumbar spine.

Console Upgrade (Loveseat Only)

The Turner Loveseat has the option to include a console in the middle of the seat. This handy center console adds extra storage to put anything you wish inside the loveseat. 

Cup holders are also included, meaning you can sit back and relax without having to get up to grab a drink. Further, the console offers an interior electronic charging input instead of the ports outside the loveseat.

Cost

Regarding cost, the Turner furniture products fall within the mid-price range at La-Z-Boy.

Warranty

The Turner Furniture Family is covered by La-Z-Boy’s Limited Lifetime Warranty. This warranty covers the repair or replacement of the frame, spring systems, and mechanism, given that they are quality-crafted and built for long-lasting comfort.

While still quality-crafted, other aspects of the product, such as fabrics, leather, and cushion, are not meant to last a lifetime. However, these parts are still covered by the La-Z-Boy Manufacturer’s Warranty for a given period of time.
