Review of the Rosewood Recliner

Est. Reading Time: 9 Mins

At La-Z-Boy, we have many recliners that are available in any shape and sizes. But with so many to choose from, there might be some overlap with recliners having similar features or even looks.

In fact, there’s one specific recliner that blatantly mimics the style of another recliner. Can you tell which one this is?

If you guessed the Rosewood, you’re a genius! Known as the little sister to the grand Redwood Recliner, the Rosewood looks exactly like its larger counterpart, except smaller.

But why is this the case? Why would a smaller recliner be necessary for this furniture frame and not for other recliners? Well, stick around to find out more about the Rosewood and if this recliner is right for you!

Unique Features

Rosewood ReclinerBased on appearance, the Rosewood is a plush recliner. While it may not be the most delicate and dainty-looking recliner, it certainly has a charm to it that can be irresistible.

Rosewood’s rugged looks create a nice scaled-down contemporary styling that compliments a larger room. Its simplistic design and comfortable cushioned seats make it a great addition to any home.

The cushy blown fiber back can be eased into any relaxing reclined position with the convenient handle placed on the right side of the chair. What’s more, the padded armrests and chaise seat cradle your body with full support.

As mentioned in the intro, the Rosewood Recliner is the scaled-down version of the Redwood Recliner, which means it has all of the same features as the Redwood, just smaller!

These reclining chairs certainly compliment each other when placed in the same room. If you live with someone who’s looking for a large recliner, you can enjoy the same reclining comfort as them in your size.

Sizes & Dimensions

When figuring out if a certain furniture piece is right for your home, it is always important to consider the sizing of the frame. To learn more about this, check out our article about Measuring Your Space.

Looking at its size & dimensions, the Rosewood may be smaller than the Redwood, but its frame is definitely not the smallest out there. Due to its wide stance and plush arms, the Rosewood is still not recommended for smaller spaces.

Instead, the Rosewood would be better placed in an average sized living room or larger.

As for who can sit comfortably in this furniture frame, the Rosewood may be recommended for users who are average in size. More specifically, individuals who have a height of 5’4” to 5’9” may feel more comfortable sitting in this recliner than others.

While your height can be a considerable factor, it is important to note that height guidelines are NOT set in stone. The way you sit in a furniture item can drastically affect how someone might find a seat comfortable.

Ultimately, we recommend that you visit a La-Z-Boy showroom and take the Rosewood for a sit test with the help of a La-Z-Boy design consultant.

Options & Upgrades

All upholstery furniture at La-Z-Boy is customizable. Give the Rosewood recliner your own personal touch by choosing from a range of options and upgrades.

It is important to note that by selecting any options and upgrades in this section, the cost of the Rosewood product is subject to increase.

Fabric & Leather Options

La-Z-Boy has over 800 fabrics and leathers to choose from, making the experience of personalizing your furniture seemingly endless.

The Rosewood recliner has 5 select fabric covers to compliment its unique frame. These select fabrics are the exact same colours as the Redwood.

Select fabrics are included in the starting price of the Rosewood recliner. Non-select fabrics or leathers will incur an additional cost.

As for Rosewood’s leather options, there are 2 select leather options. Customers can choose between the tasteful wine or the delicious chocolate. These choices are also the same as the Redwood. You can learn more about La-Z-Boy’s Leather Selection by checking out this article.

Leather options - even select leather - will always increase the overall cost. Ultimately, the choice of choosing fabric or leather is up to you.

Please note that this article's leather or fabric options may be discontinued or unavailable without prior notice. We recommend contacting your local Ottawa or Kingston La-Z-Boy store by phone or in-person to confirm availability. We apologize for any inconvenience caused by any changes to our upholstery selection.

In addition to the cover options mentioned above, the Rosewood is offered in specialty fabrics that offer unique features and benefits…

Cushion Upgrade

For an additional cost, Rosewood offers cushion upgrades that provide firmer support and improve the comfort of your furniture over time.

These upgraded cushions are designed to conform to your unique figure, allowing for a more personalized seating experience. This could be a great option for people with mobility issues, allowing you to get in and out of your furniture more comfortably.

For more information, view our Recliner Collection catalogue.

Handle Options

To add more style to your La-Z-Boy recliner, you can customize the material of the convenient reclining handle.

At an extra cost, you can choose from various materials for the handle, including wooden, brushed nickel, or matte black. The chrome handle can also be elongated, matching the wooden one in size.

What’s more, for all left-handed users, you can change your handle from the standard right side to the left. This option also comes at an additional cost.

Optional Swivel Base

If you're interested, the Rosewood rocking recliner is available with a swivel base for an extra cost. La-Z-Boy's swivel bases provide a 360-degree rotation, allowing you to turn and face any direction easily.

You can also upgrade your swivel base into a power swivel recliner, which can recline at the touch of a button. The power swivel base, however, only rotates 165 degrees to prevent the power cord from getting tangled within the furniture frame.

To learn more about our Swivel chair options, check out our list of Swivel Accent Chairs.

Wood Base Finish Options

If you opt for the Rosewood Rocking Recliner or the upgraded swivel base, you also have the option to customize the wood finish base. Choosing from different wood base finish colours can help you create a more cohesive and refined look for your furniture and your room as a whole.

The Rosewood offers the following wood finish options:

  1. Mahogany (Base Price)
  2. Coffee (Additional Cost)

Power Upgrade with Adjustable Headrest & Lumbar

You can upgrade the Rosewood to power.

Instead of using a handle or a latch, like with manual furniture, the power recliner has a wireless remote on the right side of the chair. With this, you can recline at the touch of a button, as well as control the adjustable headrest support.

The adjustable headrest allows you to move the head of the recliner from 0-55 degrees, giving you more range of motion with your reclining positions.

You can also control the lower lumbar area of your recliner with the wireless remote. In this case, the lumbar support can expand 3 inches out or deflate to perfectly match the unique curvature of your lumbar spine.

What’s more, the recliners have USB ports next to the control panels to charge your electronic devices, as well as two memory settings that allow you to save any of your favourite relaxing positions. This way, you can easily recline back to the position you favour quickly and accurately.

If you need help with learning about the controls, check out La-Z-Boy Power Furniture: How to Use the Control Panel & Remote

All power upgrades can be cordless, thanks to our rechargeable battery pack. With this, you can place your power recliners anywhere without worrying about plugging them into an electrical outlet.

To learn more about battery packs, read this Review of the Rechargeable Battery Pack offered at La-Z-Boy.

Cost

In terms of cost, Rosewood’s modern recliners fall within the mid-price range at La-Z-Boy. To learn more, check out the Cost of Recliners at La-Z-Boy. This is mainly due to the construction of the frame and because it uses more materials.

While the cost of the Rosewood is quite standard at La-Z-Boy, it is important to note that La-Z-Boy furniture is considered expensive on the market. This cost is reflected in the quality of materials and craftsmanship of our products.

With this, the investment tends to be worthwhile if you are looking for long-lasting furniture.

Warranty

The Rosewood is covered by La-Z-Boy’s Limited Lifetime Warranty. This warranty covers the repair or replacement of the frame, spring systems, and mechanism, given that they are quality-crafted and built for long-lasting comfort.

For full details of the Limited Lifetime Warranty, check out this full La-Z-Boy warranty breakdown.

While still quality-crafted, other aspects of the product, such as fabrics, leather, and cushion, are not meant to last a lifetime. However, these parts are still covered by the La-Z-Boy Manufacturer’s Warranty for a given period of time.

To further protect your purchase, La-Z-Boy Ottawa & Kingston offers an extended warranty plan at an additional cost. To learn more about the Extended Warranty Plan and if it’s right for you, take a look at this article.

Star reviews can only tell you so much. Here is what reviewers are honestly saying about the Rosewood Recliner…

Is the Rosewood Recliner Right for You?

Now that you’re familiar with the Rosewood, you might be ready to make your buying decision.

However, there might still be some things you’re a little iffy about, such as how the Rosewood falls within your budget, the functionality and the overall style of the frame. To help you out with this, here are some last-minute factors to consider.

Starting with budget, the Rosewood is within the mid-price range at La-Z-Boy, which means there are recliners that are more expensive than it and recliners that are less expensive as well. If you’re looking for a recliner that’s lower in cost this recliner may not be right for you.

However, It is important to note that purchasing La-Z-Boy furniture should be considered an investment, and that any frame will cost more than the average furniture piece anywhere else.

Because of the quality of materials used within our furniture, our recliners are priced higher, but it also means they’ll last longer. If you’re looking for a furniture piece that won’t break in the next couple of years, consider purchasing at La-Z-Boy.

In terms of functionality, the Rosewood is an average-sized chair, meaning it isn’t big and it isn’t small either. Because of this, it is the perfect in between recliner for anyone looking for something to fill up space in their living room.

If you are someone who’s taller than six feet, you might prefer the Redwood more than this recliner. If you’re trying to find more variety in a Tall Person’s Recliner, check this article out.

As for style, the Rosewood may not look as delicate as its name suggests, but it does have a certain flair to it that can go well with darker rooms. It can also become a contrasting piece to a lighter styled room as well.

If you pair this recliner with the Redwood, you might be looking at a jack-and-jill-styled living room, which is perfect for couples looking to have chairs to themselves. These chairs could even look great next to a long sofa or sectional if you have the room for this type of arrangement.
