Wellwise By Shoppers Drug Mart
As mentioned before, Wellwise is a sister company to the ever-popular Shoppers Drug Mart. While not being a section in their store like other similar brands, Wellwise was launched by Shoppers in 2017.
The reason why they announced a new branded store was because this type of location would help cater to those aging in a specialized manner. Instead of picking up medication or prescriptions for anyone, this store would help with much more than just illness, but wellness in general.
"At Wellwise, people can find everything from travel accessories to mobility products to help them stay in their homes longer," Scott Wilks, the Vice President of Shoppers Home Health Care and Wellwise, said during the launch. "No matter what stage of life people are in, Wellwise will be an important resource for Canadians looking to take control of how they age."
Now, almost 6 years later, Wellwise has locations in Ontario, Alberta and British Columbia.
La-Z-Boy Ottawa & Kingston
La-Z-Boy is an American company established in Michigan, United States, over 90 years ago.
Although the company has American roots, the Ottawa and Kingston locations have been locally owned and operated by the Maxwell family since 2011.
La-Z-Boy prides itself on its furniture quality, style, and comfortability, which is why one of its popular phrases is "style meets comfort."
La-Z-Boy’s primary specialty is living room furniture, but it also offers furniture for other rooms in the home, including the dining room and bedroom. Additionally, La-Z-Boy also provides a wide variety of home accessories and decor.

According to their website, Wellwise’s reclining lift chair selection is limited to over 70 options, much more than La-Z-Boy’s selection.
Within these choices, you’ll notice that there are many frames that compliment different heights, sizes, styles and lifestyles. Furthermore, Wellwise’s lift recliners are categorized by different collections, each with varying price ranges.
The Essentials Collection includes less expensive recliners with the essential features you would need for a lift chair. Then, there’s the Elegance Collection, which is in the mid-price range and includes more movement in your power recliner, and an added weight limit.
Lastly, the Heritage Collection features a higher price bracket with custom options available and more upgrades, including heat and massage.
La-Z-Boy Recliner Lift Chair Selection
At La-Z-Boy, there are only 8 lift recliner chair options to choose from. You can choose from 4 furniture frame options, including the Pinnacle, the Astor, the James and the Clayton.
These four lift recliners, though not as abundant as Wellwise’s selection, are made with quality materials that will keep your loved one comfortable and restful for a long time. La-Z-Boy also has a tier list associated with their lift recliner program, which is separated into a Silver, Gold and Platinum tier.
Further, each lift chair can be upgraded to include either Headrest & Lumbar or Heat & Massage, depending on the frame.

La-Z-Boy is a global manufacturer operating in North America, Asia, and Europe. La-Z-Boy’s products are primarily made in North America for North American markets, with their global headquarters in Monroe, Michigan.
Our recliners, chairs, sofas, and sectionals sold in Ottawa and Kingston are primarily manufactured in Dayton, Tennessee.

Customization Options

In contrast, upholstery furniture at La-Z-Boy is highly customizable.
With over 800 fabrics and leathers to choose from, there are many possibilities to make your furniture unique to fit your own personal style.
Aside from upholstery customization, La-Z-Boy living room furniture is also customizable in cushion density, leg style, wood finish, nailhead trim, and welt trim, depending on the chosen frame.
Additionally, La-Z-Boy's reclining furniture offers various upgrades, including power options. With power, select models are available with additional features, such as heat & massage, power lift options for recliners, and adjustable headrest & lumbar.

Warranty
Whether you shop at Wellwise or La-Z-Boy, there is no doubt that lift chairs are an investment.
Both furniture retailers offer a warranty with the sale of their products to help protect the long-term value of your investment.
Wellwise Warranty
Because Wellwise carries different brands of lift chairs, the warranty will range from chair to chair. Taking a look at both Pride Mobility and Golden Technologies, these two companies have varying warranties but are still fairly similar.
Pride’s warranty, depending on the frame, is a 7-year warranty that is non-refundable. But depending on the frame, there can be a 1-year warranty (or more) for any manufacturer defects and delivery damages.
As for Golden Technologies, their lift recliners have a limited frame warranty that lasts 3 years. There is also a 7-year warranty for electrical parts, but this warranty does become limited after the third year is over.
La-Z-Boy Warranty
The quality of La-Z-Boy’s furniture is known to last as a long-term investment.
La-Z-Boy products come with a manufacturing warranty that covers damage caused by manufacturing errors or workmanship.
The mechanical and frame parts are covered for a lifetime, while others are covered for 1-3 years. This warranty is applicable across all upholstery categories consistently.

At an additional cost, La-Z Boy also offers an Extended Protection Plan that covers up to five years of accidental damage. Depending on the product, the cost of this warranty is relative.

Delivery

Wellwise Delivery
Wellwise’s delivery has a simple $150 delivery fee for any of their lift chair selections. What’s more, they also deliver to retirement homes and bring the furniture inside at no extra charge.
All lift recliners come assembled and tested to ensure all products are working as they should! If there are any problems, a technician can come and help resolve the issue at no extra charge.
La-Z-Boy Delivery
La-Z-Boy offers a white glove delivery service that includes set up, assembly, rearranging furniture, and disposal of old furniture at an additional cost.
At La-Z-Boy, local Ottawa & Kingston delivery costs $129.99, and out-of-town delivery costs $169.99. For an additional fee of $25 per furniture piece, we can assist with either moving out old furniture from different rooms or bringing it to the curb.
Additionally, we offer the option to dispose of any old furniture in a local landfill at an extra charge of $50 / per furniture seat.
