For over 90 years, La-Z-Boy has been continuously innovating the modern recliner. In this time, we have developed not only individual recliners but also reclining loveseats, sofas, sectionals, and even secret recliners.

The Rowan Furniture Family is a prime example! Not only is Rowan offered as a recliner, but also a reclining loveseat and sofa. 

Mary Lee Smyth, the interior designer at La-Z-Boy Kingston, also tells us that this furniture family has a rocking reclining loveseat, which only comes in three furniture families at La-Z-Boy, including the Rowan.

“The Rowan knows how to keep everyone relaxed for a long or short sit,” she explains.

Before we begin an in-depth analysis of the Rowan furniture, let’s familiarize ourselves with the type of furniture frames that are included in this family. 

Rowan Recliner

The Rowan Recliner is a great choice for anyone seeking an individual reclining experience. Users can recline effortlessly with the convenient handle located on the outside arm of the recliner.

The Rowan Recliner is available as:

• Rocking Recliner 
• Wall Recliner
• Gliding Recliner  

When not in a reclining position, the rocking and gliding recliner can rock and glide in a smooth and graceful motion while keeping you feeling relaxed. The Rowan Wall Recliner can be placed mere inches away from a wall while still being able to recline fully.

Rowan Reclining Loveseat

The Rowan Reclining Loveseat offers the same individualized comfort as the Rowan recliner, times two! You can now enjoy this loveseat with either a friend, family member or with that special someone. 

This loveseat is unique as it can be either a rocking recliner or a wall recliner. The regular wall reclining loveseat can be placed mere inches away from a wall like the Rowan Wall Recliner, and the rocker recliner can rock in a smooth and graceful motion individually. 

The Rowan Rocking Loveseat can be made by combining the Left-Arm and Right-Arm Sitting Rocking Recliners. The only other furniture families that offer a rocking arrangement like this are the Pinnacle and Finley, which you can learn more about with their review articles.

Rowan Reclining Sofa

Lastly, the Rowan Reclining Sofa offers three seat cushions, so you can recline and relax with company. 

This sofa is also a wall recliner, meaning it, too, can be placed mere inches away from a wall while still being able to recline. It is important to note that the only seat that does not recline is the middle seat.

Unique Features

The Rowan Furniture Family has many different unique features. 

Mary Lee begins by stating that the style of the Rowan is “euro-centric with modified elements of modern looks.” The Rowan showcases a combination of style and comfort with its clean lines, flared arms, and a well-padded pillowy top with a split-back design.

The Rowan also features bucket seats and welt trim for an upscale look. Mary Lee also mentions that the slight arm arch “puts more emphasis on the modern styling, and they also flair outward to maximize the seating on the sofa.”

Since this furniture family is all about wall recliners, maximizing space is essential for these furniture pieces to thrive!

Size & Dimensions

The size of a furniture frame is an important factor to consider when selecting furniture.  First, consider if the furniture will fit in your space. The best way to do this is by Measuring Your Room. 

Given that this furniture family puts an emphasis on wall reclining furniture, these furniture pieces don’t need as much space to fully recline. Mary Lee says that a regular recliner needs 8” of space to fully recline, while wall recliners only need 4”, cutting the required space in half.

However, this does not mean that it is always perfect for a small space. Mary Lee says that these recliners are big in size but not so big that they will overcrowd an average-sized space. She says,  “the width of the sofa is 85”, which is pretty standard for a reclining sofa.”

Mary Lee also says that the size of this furniture family is comfortable for most individuals. More specifically, it provides the most comfort to those who are between the height of 5’4” to 5’9”.

Options & Upgrades

When compared to other La-Z-Boy furniture families, Rowan has plenty of customization options to choose from. Keep in mind that with your selection of options and upgrades, the cost of the Rowan furniture will increase.  

Fabric & Leather Options

La-Z-Boy has over 800 fabrics and leathers to choose from, making the experience of personalizing your furniture seemingly endless.

When it comes to choosing select fabrics, the Rowan comes in 8 select fabric covers. Customers can choose between oyster, platinum, caramel, eclipse, and other colours. These fabric covers do not increase the price of the Rowan furniture.

When it comes to leather options, there are 2 select cover options. These leather options include a slate and a truffle colour.

Along with the leather selection, a leather match is also available. All leather options, including the select leather, will always increase the overall cost.

Ultimately, the choice of choosing fabric or leather is up to you if you’re willing to spend extra cash on leather products.

Power Upgrade

The Rowan Rocker and Wall Recliners, Loveseats, and Sofa can all be upgraded to power. 

Instead of using a handle or a latch, like on the manual furniture, the power recliner has a control panel on the right side of the chair, while the power loveseat and sofa have two control panels on each side. With this, you can recline at the touch of a button. 

The rocking and wall recliners have a side-mounted 4-button control panel used to recline in multiple positions, while the loveseat and sofa only have two buttons to control the legrests and backs. 

Each power upgrade also has USB ports next to the control panels to charge your electronic devices.

Adjustable Headrest & Lumbar Support

With a power upgrade, the Rowan furniture can be further upgraded to include adjustable headrest support. 

With this, you can adjust the headrest with a power tilt to cradle your head and neck. 

Adjustable lumbar support is also available at La-Z-Boy. However, it is only featured in the Rowan Rocker and Wall Recliners.

Console Upgrade (Loveseat Only)

The Rowan Rocking and Wall Loveseats both have the option to include a console in the middle of the seat. This handy center console adds extra storage. 

Cup holders are also included, meaning you can sit back and relax without having to get up to grab a drink. Further, the console offers an interior electronic charging input instead of the ports outside the loveseat.

Cost

Regarding cost, the Rowan furniture products fall within the mid-high price range at La-Z-Boy.

Mary Lee theorizes that the cost might be higher due to the detailing on the furniture frame or because the padding on the back of the frame is thicker. 

“Not a lot of other furniture frames have that much padding on the backs so the added materials could be why it costs more,” she says.

While the cost of the Rowan furniture is considered a little more than standard at La-Z-Boy, it is important to note that La-Z-Boy furniture is considered more expensive on the market. This cost is reflected in the quality of materials and craftsmanship of our products. With this, the investment tends to be worthwhile if you are looking for long-lasting furniture.

Warranty

The Rowan Furniture Family is covered by La-Z-Boy’s Limited Lifetime Warranty, which covers the repair or replacement of the frame, spring systems, and mechanism, given that they are quality-crafted and built for long-lasting comfort.

While still quality-crafted, other aspects of the product, such as fabrics, leather, and cushion, are not meant to last a lifetime. However, these parts are still covered by the La-Z-Boy Manufacturer’s Warranty for a given time.
