Throughout its history, La-Z-Boy has undergone significant transformations, constantly introducing innovative furniture designs. Despite the passing years, we have remained at the forefront as a top-tier store, consistently redefining the essence of relaxation.
Whether you have been a loyal La-Z-Boy customer for years or are newly acquainted with our brand, you are bound to notice the intriguing developments in our showrooms. Perhaps some features you haven’t seen anywhere else.
And with this new era of “Long Live the Lazy,” coming out today, we would like to showcase some of the latest additions to our furniture pieces.

Why the Change?
As mentioned before, La-Z-Boy has had many different eras of branding, but what’s the reason behind its most recent change?
Before, La-Z-Boy focused on promoting furniture that is long-lasting, helping you create rooms that will build special moments that’ll become ever-lasting memories.
However, this branding approach inadvertently led some individuals to perceive our furniture as outdated. Long-lasting furniture, though sustainable and familiar, brought up questions such as, “is La-Z-Boy a dormant brand?” or “Is La-Z-Boy furniture primarily designed for a younger or older demographic?”
With our fresh La-Z-Boy branding approach, we're breaking away from the notion that our furniture is solely associated with the "grandfather recliner" image and highlighting its universal appeal across all age groups.
To achieve this transformation, we're incorporating modern perspectives, relatable designs, and a powerful message inviting our audience to not just create timeless memories but to curate moments they want to continue living in, as part of their ongoing lives.
That’s what our new slogan “Long Live the Lazy” is all about!
1. Power Recliner Functions
You’ll quickly notice that a lot of these new changes revolve around power furniture, which is continuing to become an increasingly popular ask when it comes to shopping for modern furniture pieces.
One of the bigger changes, and mostly something that may go unrecognized is the new reclining mechanisms in Power furniture.
With these new reclining mechanisms, users can recline faster and further back. Recliners can now recline half a second faster while recliners move back further with a 135-degree angle instead of the previous 125 degrees. While this may not be much of a difference to some, this helps improve your recliner's capabilities.
What’s more, all of these recliners are moved with a wireless remote, which not only controls the power reclining function but the adjustable headrests and lumbar support. This is something only La-Z-Boy provides with our recliners.
Lastly, these new reclining mechanisms also have a safety feature built inside of them, where the recliner prevents you from closing it, if it feels pressure underneath it. This spring system unlatches from the frame, allowing it to stop its motion and wait for the pressure to release.

2. Adjustable Headrests for Some Recliners
Along the subject of power furniture, you’ll notice that some of our high-leg recliners have the ability to use power.
While this may not be a newer addition to our furniture, the latest feature added to these recliners is the ability to adjust the headrest when upgraded to power. Initially, the only upgrade for our secret reclining collection was for some of them only to move the legrest and back with power controls.
Now, like our regular recliners, they can adjust the headrest for a more comfortable reclining experience.
Adjusting the headrest of your furniture has become more of a demand for customers, eliminating the demand for regular power controls. While not every high-leg recliner has this yet, we are slowly introducing these new features within existing furniture frames like the Brentwood and the Rheeves.
But, keep your eyes open as more furniture styles are yet to come with this feature…
3. Swivel Power Recliners
Staying on theme with power, our rocking recliners have gotten a new upgrade available, with the addition of swivel power recliners.
Before, rocking recliners had the option to upgrade to a swivel base if users wanted to combine two of their relaxing passions: rocking and swivelling. However, with the aforementioned rise in demand for power furniture, La-Z-Boy has introduced an additional upgrade to these furniture items in the form of swivel power recliners.
With the added power to your swivel reclining chair, you can now recline with ease without needing to use a handle. It is important to note that these power functions only recline the furniture and do not move them left and right–the swivel function is still manual.
The main difference between regular swivels and power swivel recliners is that these frames only swivel 165 degrees instead of the typical 360 degrees. This is largely to prevent the power cord from getting caught within the swivel base.

4. Loveseats with Console Bundles
If you’ve seen our La-Z-Boy loveseats with consoles in the past, you’ve probably noticed that they’re pretty intuitive. With storage, light-up cup holders and charging ports for your electronic devices, what more can you ask for?
Well, what if I told you, we’ve added more to our console bundles with our newest console design?
With the new console bundle design, customers can now expect to see wireless charging ports on top of the frame, as well as more storage. While the USB charging ports are still available, customers are now able to rest their phones on top of the console and charge them wirelessly.
Furthermore, the additional storage was incorporated not only to help organize items in your home but also to accommodate the new convenient trays that can be added to your console.
By placing your tray inside one of the two steel grommets on the corners, you can use this tray as a place to eat, study, or work from home if you’re feeling like relaxing!
5. Restore Fabrics by Nanobionic©
As you may already know, La-Z-Boy has specialty fabrics available, depending on how you’d like to use your furniture. Some help with stain resistance, while others are eco-friendly.
But with these new fabrics by Nanobionic©, you can now sit on your beloved furniture item for a long time while also restoring energy back into your body.
As the name suggests, Restore fabrics help return invisible waves of energy back into your body and stimulate local blood flow. This is done with infrared-emitting minerals that are activated by your body heat.
Not only do these fabrics help with relaxation, but they also help with muscle tension, inflammation, feeling less tired, and boosting your body’s energy as a whole.

6. UL GreenGuard Gold Certification
At La-Z-Boy, we are always committed to keeping our furniture safe to use. This is why our commitment to sustainability has been one of our values for such a long time.
While your furniture is made to last a long time, it is also ethically tested to ensure it does not carry harmful chemicals and materials that could cause long-term effects on your health. Enter, the UL GreenGuard Certification, a program that signifies your furniture is designed to lower chemical emissions that could be hidden within furniture items.
While this program was already incorporated within the testing of our furniture, La-Z-Boy now has furniture tested under the UL GreenGuard Gold status, which lets customers know that our furniture goes beyond the standard rigorous testing to minimize the presence of airborne chemicals and toxins.

7. New Furniture Styles
Last but certainly not least, with all of these new furniture features introduced, we have also slowly started introducing newer furniture families and styles to our floors.
Although this new wave of frames has replaced some staff favourites, these new pieces were picked out and made to appeal to a larger audience.
While furniture design is becoming more contemporary as the years go by, our new furniture frames are still looking back and have inspirations of older trends. Like the Petra Furniture Family, which carries an elegant and pristine appearance; or the Draper Furniture Family, which upholds mid-century modern elements to a T.
